Silicon Labs and Ezlo Innovation Collaborate to Improve Smart Home Experience

-- New Ezlo Secure and Ezlo Plus Smart Hubs Adopt Latest Silicon Labs Z-Wave and Zigbee Technology --

AUSTIN, Texas – Jan. 6, 2021 Silicon Labs (NASDAQ: SLAB), a leading provider of silicon, software, and solutions for a smarter, more connected world, and Ezlo Innovation, a leading provider of connected solutions for homes and businesses, today announced a collaboration to simplify the smart home experience with new control hubs that are among the first to use the Silicon Labs Z-Wave 700 Series Module. Launching today, the new Ezlo Secure and Ezlo Plus hubs contain industry-leading security and performance features optimized by Silicon Labs Z-Wave wireless technology, as well as seamless connectivity on the Ezlo Secure to keep it online during power and internet outages.

Ezlo hubs are feature-rich and make homes safer and lives easier by:

  • Enabling customers to control Z-Wave, Zigbee, and over 27,000 Wi-Fi devices that can be paired with any voice assistant
  • Providing both DIY and professionally monitored security options
  • Offering local control to enhance privacy and increase responsiveness

The Ezlo Secure is 4x more powerful and 2x faster than the market-leading hub and is designed to let consumers have everything in their home just the way they like. It also features a built-in backup battery that keeps it operational in the event of a power outage, and for customers who subscribe to the Ezlo Protect security monitoring service, it has 4G LTE backup to maintain connection if internet service is lost.

“With so much choice for smart home users, it can quickly get confusing as to which route to take, particularly when hubs only support single technologies,” said Matt Saunders, vice president of IoT products at Silicon Labs. “Ezlo has designed an elegant hub that can connect to devices on multiple technology platforms and includes one of the first deployments of Silicon Labs’ Z-Wave 700 Series Module, which offers leading connectivity and reliability. Together, Silicon Labs and Ezlo make it easier for consumers to securely interact with devices across a range of protocols.”

Silicon Labs optimized its industry leading, IoT platform for smart home, retail, city, and commercial applications and features:

  • Up to ten-year operation on a coin cell battery
  • Smart Start technology for faster pairing of devices and high-speed interactions with device groups
  • Z-Wave S2 security providing end-to-end encryption and the most advanced security for smart home devices
  • Interoperability with a network of more than 3,300 Z-Wave devices
  • Backwards compatible, allowing it to be used with previous versions of devices

“Ezlo Innovation believes all smart home products should simply work together,” said Roger Gregory, vice president of product at Ezlo Innovation. “Silicon Labs’ wireless IoT platforms enable us to deliver a superior experience to our customers, giving them the ability to have their home just the way they like it, without having to worry about compatibility between different device protocols.”

Ezlo’s new hubs are also Z-Wave Long-Range (LR) ready and will be able to take advantage of Silicon Labs’ recently announced Z-Wave LR support for existing Z-Wave 700 series products, allowing devices to communicate at distances greater than one mile. The Ezlo Secure and Ezlo Plus smart hubs will be on display at CES, along with Ezlo’s new solutions and services for markets such as energy, property management, and aging-in-place, as well as smart home and security.
