Ember's ZigBee platform achieves Golden Unit certification for new ZigBee Light Link standard
The ZigBee Alliance’s new lighting standard will make it easier and more convenient for consumers to add lighting control to their connected home network

Ember, a leading provider of low-power wireless mesh networking technology, announced its ZigBee platform – chips, software and tools - has achieved Golden Unit certification from the ZigBee Alliance for the newly ratified ZigBee Light Link™ standard.

ZigBee Light Link is a wireless interoperability standard for consumer LED lighting and control products. It allows consumers to wirelessly gain control over all their LED fixtures, light bulbs, timers, remotes and switches. The standard ensures that ZigBee Certified products from different vendors will easily connect into a single network, without the need for additional devices to coordinate the network.

As one of the first five Golden Units certified by the ZigBee Alliance, Ember’s ZigBee platform, including EM300 series wireless chips, EmberZNet PRO networking software and development tools, will serve as a preferred development platform to build and test future ZigBee Light Link products. This certification process instills consumer confidence by assuring that all ZigBee Light Link products from different vendors will interoperate seamlessly.

“The ZigBee Alliance’s new lighting standard will make it easier and more convenient for consumers to add lighting control to their connected home network,” said Skip Ashton, Ember senior vice president of engineering and chair, ZigBee Architecture Review Committee. “As a golden unit for ZigBee Light Link, Ember is enabling designers to quickly develop and easily deploy certified lighting solutions. Ember’s technology platforms have always been among the first ZigBee Certified golden units for many ZigBee standards and we’re proud to continue our leadership with ZigBee Light Link.”

The ZigBee Light Link standard will also give consumers the ability to control lighting remotely over the internet providing yet another avenue for managing energy use and making their homes greener. In addition, the standard enables lighting manufacturers to target the broader ZigBee home automation market through the capability to integrate with other ZigBee standards.

Anyone interested in learning more about the ZigBee Light Link standard can attend a free public webinar on May 16, 2012. “Understanding ZigBee Light Link” will be held at 8:00 am PDT. Space is limited and advanced registration is available at
