Silicon Labs Marathon Relay to Kick Off Austin's Distance Challenge

AUSTIN, Texas – April 30, 2007 –

The Silicon Labs Marathon Relay is a five-person relay race covering 26.2 miles that winds through scenic Town Lake and the Capitol grounds in downtown Austin. One of the top relay marathons in the country, the Silicon Labs Marathon Relay will be hosted at a new location in 2007. The event will start and finish at the most popular downtown outdoor venue in Austin, Auditorium Shores. The new location will allow the sponsors and organizers to accommodate increased attendance and expand the race day events to include live entertainment, a complete children’s activity center, family friendly vendors and an extended runner’s village.

The Silicon Labs Marathon Relay benefits Junior Achievement, the world's largest non-profit organization dedicated to educating young people about business, economics and free enterprise. All proceeds from the Silicon Labs Marathon Relay go directly toward Junior Achievement’s programs that teach financial literacy and the importance of staying in school.

"The Silicon Labs Marathon Relay is a premier event on Austin’s recreational calendar," said Will Wynn, mayor of Austin. "I am proud to endorse this fun event that encourages runners at all fitness levels to participate."

"We are really looking forward to fielding a team in the Marathon Relay again this year," said Adam Reiser from Jack & Adams Bicycles, a member of the two time winning team of the Silicon Labs Marathon Relay. "We are looking for a three peat, and we challenge other runners from all levels to participate."

"Sponsoring and participating in the Marathon Relay has become an annual event for many Silicon Labs employees," said Shannon Pleasant, director of corporate communications for Silicon Labs. "We are very excited about leading off the Austin Distance Challenge and expanding the event to Auditorium Shores. The event will be better than ever for runners and their families."

The Silicon Labs Marathon Relay is sponsored by Silicon Labs, a leading designer of mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs) that are used in many consumer electronics like MP3 players and modems, and is produced in partnership with Junior Achievement, RunTex Events and the Carrozza Foundation.
